Admission to the Pre-Theology Program

The Pre-Theology Program pertains chiefly to post-college seminarians in the Propaedeutic and Discipleship Stages of formation. Ordinarily, college-aged men who do not hold a bachelor’s degree should seek admission to Cardinal  Glennon College.

Intellectual formation in the Propaedeutic and Discipleship Stages of Pre-Theology equips seminarians with the natural wisdom requisite to engage Theology.  While philosophy is indispensable, however, it is not the defining feature of the program, which places as much emphasis on the human, spiritual, and pastoral dimensions as it does on the intellectual.

Thus, applicants with previous studies in philosophy, but no previous seminary experience, are usually required to begin formation in the Propaedeutic Stage, and in most cases to engage the Discipleship Stage’s full curriculum.

As an integrated program of formation, Pre-Theology ordinarily requires three years.

The admissions process for the Pre-Theology Program is the same as the process of Kenrick School of Theology, (see Theology Admissions).
