The service of second-year college seminarians focuses on the more serious behavioral and environmental problems of youth.  The problem areas chosen for the program are delinquency, problem homes, and some of the more common problems of socialization.

The following behavioral objectives are suggested as means of achieving the goal of the second-year program:

  • To gain exposure to the difficulties associated with poverty in the inner-city
  • To acquire a comfortable and appropriate presence to youth
  • To become familiar with creative activities which assist youth in learning
  • With the help of the supervisors, to identify significant aspects of childhood problems
  • To identify and acquire effective interpersonal behaviors in dealing with youth
  • To share experiences and insights with other seminarians in reflection meetings
