Languages, Writing and Research
All theologians are required to complete one year of Latin. Those who have previously completed a year of Latin in college or pre-theology have no further language requirement. Latin, Greek, Biblical Hebrew, and Spanish are offered as electives.

Summative Evaluation
Each candidate for the M.Div. must satisfactorily pass a comprehensive oral and written examination which will offer the opportunity to demonstrate his ability to synthesize the knowledge he has gained throughout his theological formation. (Candidates who are also enrolled in the MA and/or STB program complete the requirements of those programs in place of the M.Div. exam.)
The final evaluation for the M.Div. degree is based on 90% of the student’s earned grade point average and 10% of the score on the oral examination. In the event that a student fails the comprehensive exam, he will be allowed two possibilities to take it again within the limit of one year. See Summative Evaluation Handbook for details.
